Project Overview
DupeDictionary is a highly specialized e-commerce mobile application crafted exclusively for perfume lovers and fragrance enthusiasts. Unlike a typical online perfume store, this innovative platform allows users not only to browse and purchase a diverse range of fragrances but also to list their personal perfume collections for sale. This creates a unique and dedicated marketplace centered around a shared passion for scents and fragrances, fostering a vibrant community of like-minded individuals.
The project demanded a careful and thoughtful balance between two very distinct sets of expectations. On one side, the product needed to radiate a polished, sophisticated, and premium feel that aligns perfectly with the luxury fragrance market. On the other side, it had to simplify peer-to-peer selling, making it straightforward and trustworthy by providing clear and detailed product information, comprehensive seller profiles, transparent pricing, accurate condition descriptions, and dependable user reviews.
I took full responsibility for the product from inception to completion, managing everything from UI/UX design to the development of the Flutter mobile application. This comprehensive role included connecting the frontend interface seamlessly with backend systems and databases, integrating secure and reliable payment methods, managing essential marketplace features, and supporting the app through deployment processes and ongoing version control management to ensure a smooth user experience.

The Challenge
Balancing premium aesthetics with usability was key in designing this perfume platform. The interface allowed space for visual storytelling while keeping product details clear. Search, categories, filters, favorites, and seller info were organized to support buyer decisions.
The Approach
I approached the premium aesthetics with effortless usability in perfume retail was a major design challenge. Peer-to-peer selling added complexity by requiring robust buyer trust and streamlined seller tools. Sellers needed simple workflows to manage listings, orders, and credibility.
The Outcome
DupeDictionary became a focused marketplace that brings buying and reselling fragrances into one dedicated experience. The final product combines the visual character expected from a premium perfume platform with the practical features needed for a user-driven marketplace.

Project Overview
The first goal was to create a product that felt credible within the perfume market. Fragrance is closely connected to presentation, branding, and perception, so a generic marketplace interface would have worked against the product. The visual direction therefore needed to feel refined without sacrificing usability, giving product photography and fragrance information enough attention while keeping navigation familiar. A second priority was making the marketplace model easy to understand. Users were not simply browsing products from a single retailer; they could also become sellers themselves. That meant the product needed to support two different journeys without making either one feel secondary. Buying a perfume had to be quick and straightforward, while creating a listing needed to be simple enough that users would actually complete it.
Trust was another important business requirement. In a peer-to-peer marketplace, the platform itself cannot rely entirely on its brand reputation to establish confidence. Product details, seller profiles, ratings, reviews, communication, payment handling, and order information all contribute to that trust. These elements were therefore treated as part of the core product experience rather than secondary features. From a product perspective, the project also reinforced the importance of reducing friction across connected workflows. A marketplace can have all the expected features and still feel difficult if those features don't work together. Search needs to lead naturally into product discovery, product details need to support the buying decision, checkout needs to feel predictable, and post-purchase information needs to remain accessible.
The biggest takeaway was that designing a niche marketplace requires more than making a visually attractive shopping interface. The product has to understand the behavior and expectations of its specific community. For DupeDictionary, that meant combining the visual appeal of the fragrance industry with the functionality, transparency, and trust required to support real users buying and selling products from one another.
